The first idea was to cut the section out of another case that has damaged mounts and other cracks then i decided to just make the section

but first make a jig to weld it in

Make the section

Next to clean up the hole

Fit the section

Start to tack it in

Made a bit of a mistake here , i should have chamfered the edges before tacking it.
It took a while with a die grinder to do it in place , will know better next time.

Put it in the jig to weld it then

Weld the inside to seal it up

Done

It was sandblasted to look original and the other case is saved from the recycler to be fixed another day

-experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
