I built the battery tray out of 12g and the back and side are out of 16g.

The bottom of the tray with the rubber bottom and cable holes. And the four rubber mounts.

You can see better in this shot the stampings that I put on the vent, feed and return. I figured if I didn't put them on there that I might forget which was which.

Fresh out of the oven. If you look real close you can see the smoke burn off coming from the neck.

Now you know what the two threaded bungs below the filler neck were for. Since I am using the spring loaded stopper..........I won't be able to use a dip stick to see what my oil level is. This way I can see it without opening the top. Plus it has a 300* thermometer on it.

Thanks. Yes, MIG welded. The plugs that I used were the high temp silicone variety made for powder coating. When I was out in Vegas last may, I purchased some from a lady that lives about ten miles from my in-laws. I bought them through e-bay before I left and contacted her to see if it was ok for me to just stop by her house and pick them up while I was out there.

Now I just need to pick up some 1/8"npt plugs.......put them in the line holes...........pour in a quart of oil.......swirl it around.........dump it out and the inside will be well coated and protected from surface rust. I made sure that the last thing that I did before I welded in the battery box was to wipe down all of the interior surfaces real good so as to not leave any skin oils or acids from my fingers before I welded her shut.
