Hi,
I had similar problems identifying oil pipe placement to try and identify what my breather leaking oil was caused by. I have 1962 sportster with 1970 ironhead engine. I found this on the oil paths
http://www.sportster.org/tech/misc-ironhead/oil-route.shtml. Although says 1975 seems to apply generically. Or seems to be general way done although the actual implementation appears to vary. Hope helps if not please ignore.
In the previous post was mentioned "The fitting behind the wall section there, directly behind your pushrod tube is the vent, goes to a hole right inside your cam compartment." Is this purely for venting air pressure from the cam chest and nothing but a hole there???
The reason is that I wanted to check as I have a problem where the breather is giving excessive oil and I think that oil is being sent back into the engine by this cam chest vent....causing the excess oil then to come out the other breather hose. But was not sure if this cam chest vent was a direct hole or what. Trouble in finding information in the manual and wish internet searches regarding this cam chest vent.
Thanks,
Andy
