1200 cc conversion

Postby Harleyguy54 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 10:25 am

The conversion was a success. the power increase was there. Now I feel like I have 1200 cc's with 883 cc carb and heads. I want to start with the carb jets. Anybody have any ideas on jet size?

You know, I don't even remember if I did a jet change on my CV carb when I went to a 1200 upgrade. I really don't think I did.

I've since gone to a 1250 kit, Cp Racing pistons and NRHS Stage 3 heads. When I did, I also switched to a Mikuni 42 carb. If you're looking for some good head work, check out NRHS. I wish they would have been my first stop (long story). I did the cams too (SE 575) when I went with the Stage 3 set up. Runs like a scalded ape.

Check out my thread (a couple or three down from this one).

OK, I don't feel like my little problems amount to much, after reading your posts on stage 3 upgrade. I liked the cloud of smoke from that rear tire. You must get your Metzlers cheap over there. Of coarse why buy the whole nine yards and then not use it. I don't think I want that much power but then again, we'll have to see how I feel after I get this new setup of mine broke in a little. Sweeeet Sporty. It's good to know that not everything, after market, is made for twin cam. I guess I'll leave my sporty like it is for a while. Thanks, I'll refer back to that string later.

all in good time my friend...the seed for the desire for speed has already been planted (you've done the 1200 upgrade). I'll just be like a spider in the corner...waiting and watching.

Soon my man, soon. It will just happen one day.

I put about 50 miles on her today. That's one round trip to the world famous Elbow Inn located in Devels Elbow, Mo. If you know anyone that has spent time at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. you can ask them about it. I like being able to pass without down shifting. Screamin Eagle heads, definitly, are in the future. I like POWER !

I believe there's some nice smallmouth in the Big and Little Piney down that way. I personally like southern Misery...lots of neat old shit down that way (I'm originally from the St Louis Metro (Jerseyville/Alton IL).
