Mew XB frame build

Postby DiggerJ » Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:12 am

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought I would let you guys see what I have been working on. I got an idea about a frame design that would use many of the Buell XB parts.

I wanted to use the XB front end (without having to machine the stem).

I wanted to use the rear wheel/tire (without having to machine adapter spacers from 1" to 30mm).

Also on the list was to use the motor and have room to use the filter without having to go remote.

The frame needed to have a performance look and not be as short as many of the mutant-type frames.

The result is a frame that is 2" longer in front and out back, than a BT frame with the gooseneck to keep the frame tight and give the 38degree front a longer appearance.

I took my ideas to "Big Al" from Bitter End Old School Choppers, and this is where we are so far. There are more things to do, the nice thng for me, is that BEOSC specializes in building to spec. These guys listened to what I had in mind, made some suggestions and off we went. The oil tank and seat in the pic were set on for a picture. I am using other styles, but we wanted to see something on it.

Let me know what you think (good or bad)

looks fantastic. The big inverted forks make the thing look indestructible!

Nice work BarefootJerry. I wanted to use the newer model stuff, as I like the perimeter brakes and wheels. The inverted front is a bit bulkier, and I guess I kinda like it.

I really like the style of your bike. How tall are you? My Twisted Choppers 250 drop-seat is too short. I am 6'1"

the forks look good. Your frame has good lines. Price wise, How does getting a Buell project compare to a sportster

Here , in France : you can get a Buell at cheaper price than a Sportster .
that's true : the very-very-last buell models are more expensive .
but in facts : even if you get one of these last models : YOU SAVE MONEY in forks , wheels , brakes AND MOTOR hop-up !!!!!

that is to say "anyway : buy a Buell " for a streetfighter or lowrider project .
( coz of the short inverted forks )

That is a big reason why I went Buell. More stock HP than most of the other HD's and I dig the components.

I love your tank. Can you tell me who makes it, and the tank length? I am trying to figure out what to use on my build.

Not to come off as an @ss, but I got to that site, and went to 52 pages of the "Cheap Chop" build, only to find that while he might have made the bike...it is not the bike in the pictures above. It is a cool as hell build, but doesn't show anything about the tank I asked about.

I appreciate the links, so thank you.
