New cam and timing

Postby Harleyguy54 » Thu Dec 25, 2008 9:34 am

I put an N2 cam in my 1200 conversion. Stock timing is 20 BTDC (VOES connected). The installation instructions show timing as 46/18. Not sure I understand. Would this mean 46 degrees BTDC. This sounds a little excessive for one step up from stock cam. Also the flywheel only has 1 timing mark (2 dots). How would I know when it was 46 degrees BTDC?
You never see a Harley Davidson parked at a phyciatrist office.

46/18 is the opening point of the valves, I really wouldn't advise setting your ignition timing to 46deg!!
I don't know what mines set at ( I have a 90" conversion on mine) I just set it to standard settings for my ignition and played about by ear..
